Car Free 2005 Promotion

Santa Barbara, California--The Santa Barbara Car Free Project announced the new 2005 Car Free Vacation Package featuring discounts up to 50% from 17 hotels, 11 car free activities and for the first time- four restaurants. "This package makes it easy to save the air and money while enjoying Santa Barbara without a car," says Mary Byrd, Project Manager with the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD), the lead agency for this award-winning eco-tourism cooperative partnership. The Project encourages car free travel to and around Santa Barbara to promote cleaner air.

Now through December 31, 2005, visitors can arrive in Santa Barbara by train, plane, bike, boat or bus-or by car but leave it parked awhile-and enjoy discounts on hotel stays, restaurants and car free activities. As a special early bonus, visitors that register at www.santabarbaracarfree.org will receive an Amtrak Free Companion Fare coupon for travel on the Pacific Surfliner or Coast Starlight trains serving Santa Barbara.
