Santa Barbara, California—The Santa Barbara Car Free Project announced today a new 2004 Car Free Vacation Package featuring discounts from 17 hotels and 10 car free activities. “Let someone else do the driving and enjoy America’s Riviera™ car free and carefree,” says Mary Byrd, Project Manager with the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD), the lead agency for the cooperative partnership, which encourages car free travel to and around Santa Barbara to promote cleaner air.

Visitors can arrive in Santa Barbara by train, plane, bike, boat or bus—or by auto and leave it parked awhile—and enjoy discounts on hotel stays and car free activities through December 31, 2004. As a special early bonus, visitors that register at www.santabarbaracarfree.org will receive an Amtrak® Free Companion Fare coupon for travel on the Pacific Surfliner or Coast Starlight trains serving Santa Barbara. By mentioning the “Santa Barbara Car Free Vacation Package” when making a reservation, visitors will receive significant discounts of 10-50% off regular room rates at the following hotels: Best Western Pepper Tree Inn, Brisas del Mar, Cabrillo Inn at the Beach, Casa Del Mar Inn, Colonial Beach Inn, Fess Parker’s Doubletree Resort, Franciscan Inn, Harbor View Inn, Holiday Inn Express-Hotel Virginia, Hotel Oceana, Hotel Santa Barbara, Inn by the Harbor, Inn of the Spanish Garden, Old Yacht Club Inn, Prufrock’s Garden Inn by the Beach, Ramada Limited Hotel, and the Upham Hotel & Country House.
