CONTACT: Come to South Coast Earth Day Festival Car Free and WINPrizes include train tickets, bus passes, pedometers and electric bikeSanta Barbara, California—The Santa Barbara Car Free Project has announced the “2005 Come to Earth Day Car Free and WIN” campaign in celebration of Santa Barbara’s 35th anniversary South Coast Earth Day Festival—on Saturday, April 23, 2005, from 10:00am to 5:30pm in the Santa Barbara County Courthouse Gardens. The Car Free project, sponsored by the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD). is a partnership of more than 90 area businesses, agencies, and individuals dedicated to promoting car free transportation to, and around, Santa Barbara for cleaner air. People who arrive at the Earth Day Festival on foot, or by bike, train, bus or shuttle can stop by the APCD/Santa Barbara Car Free booth and register to win great prizes. Prizes given away every hour will include pedometers, MTD bus passes, and pairs of roundtrip Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train tickets (www.amtrak.com). People who come car free will also receive a free vintage Bike to Work Day t-shirt from Traffic Solutions (www.trafficsolutions.info). The Grand Prize will be a Merida electric bicycle from Commuter Bicycles (www.commuterbicycles.com). People who don’t arrive Car Free can still make a car free pledge to be eligible to win train tickets or a pedometer.
