CONTACT: Green Award Nominations Start on April 22ndSanta Barbara, CA. — "Catch someone doing something good!" That's the message of the Green Award Consortium, announcing today the opening of nominations for the 2007 Green Awards. Nominations will be accepted from April 22, 2007 through June 22, 2007.The Green Award recognizes companies, organizations, and schools for voluntary activities above and beyond their mission that result in cleaner air or water, less waste, less traffic, conservation of energy and natural resources, or reduced use of hazardous materials. The Green Award Consortium includes: Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District, Community Environmental Council, Santa Barbara County Water Resources Division, Santa Barbara County Resource Recovery and Waste Management Division, and SBCAG Traffic Solutions. Winners will become part of a tradition of green business leadership established by the more than 50 businesses and organizations that have been honored with Green Awards over the past 13 years. Last year, Green Awards were presented to Four Seasons Resort “The Biltmore”, Marian Medical Center, NWA, Inc. Landscape Architecture & Construction, The Family School, and Van Atta Associates. The Consortium urges residents throughout the County to submit nominations for a business, organization or school that is taking extraordinary steps to protect or improve the environment of Santa Barbara County. Nominations may be submitted electronically through the Green Difference web page at http://www.greendifference.org. Nominated activities should be voluntary and result in measurable environmental benefits. Businesses or organizations can nominate themselves. Government agencies and individuals are not eligible.
