The “Santa Barbara Car Free 20 Percent Savings Offer” is valid for travel starting August 1, 2006, through December 13, 2007 (blackout dates and restrictions apply). “We are so pleased to be able to offer this savings for train travel to all these cities in our county through 2007, including the summer months, which represent our peak smog season —and our peak visitor season. Cars and trucks are the number one source of smog-forming pollution in our county, and every person that uses the train represents one less car on the road,” said Terry Dressler, Director of the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District, which leads this award-winning eco-tourism cooperative partnership. The Project, with more than 90 community and business partners, encourages car free travel to and around Santa Barbara for cleaner air.
