Health Advisory Due to
Smoke Changed to Precautionary
Santa Barbara, CA — The Santa
Barbara County Public Health Department and the Santa Barbara County Air
Pollution Control District (APCD) today downgraded the health advisory for
people living in areas affected by smoke from the Zaca Fire. This is a
downgrade from the previous health advisory which had been in effect.
As progress continues in containing the Zaca wildfire, the threat of smoke and
ash affecting communities has decreased. However, residents closest to the fire
(particularly the Cuyama area and near Highway 33) should take precautions when
smoke is in the area. Concentrations of smoke and fine particulates that may
affect sensitive people are still possible.
If you smell or see smoke, persons sensitive to smoke and particulates should
limit time spent outdoors and minimize physical exertion while smoke is in the
air. People feeling ill should contact their Doctor or Health Care Provider.

Health Officer, said, “As the Zaca Fire approaches containment we must still be
cautious when smelling smoke and use common sense to protect your family’s
health.“
This advisory is in effect indefinitely and may be revised as
