Health Advisory Extended
Harmful Smoke from The Day Fire

Santa Barbara, CA-The Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) today extended a health advisory for people living in areas affected by smoke from the Day Fire burning in Ventura County until 9 am Tuesday morning.

Due to variable weather conditions, it is possible that all of the areas of the county will encounter smoke at some time. The APCD recommends that adults and children in areas affected by smoke avoid outdoor activity, and stay indoors as much as possible. If ash is in the air, or if you smell smoke, be cautious and use “common sense” to protect your family’s health. Everyone, especially people with heart or lung disease (including asthma), older adults and children should limit time spent outdoors, and limit prolonged or heavy exertion. If you have symptoms of lung or heart disease that may be related to excess smoke exposure, including repeated coughing, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, wheezing, chest tightness or pain, palpitations, nausea or unusual fatigue or lightheadedness, contact your health care provider.

This advisory is in effect until 9 am Tuesday morning and will be extended as conditions warrant.
