Fuel Cell Vehicle Road Rally

Fuel cell vehicles arrived in Santa Barbara County on September 6, 2002, as part of the California Coast 2002 road rally, organized by the California Fuel Cell Partnership, a consortium of auto manufacturers, energy companies, fuel cell technology companies, and government agencies. 

APCD's Board proclaimed September 6 as "Fuel Cell Vehicles Day"  in Santa Barbara County (view Resolution). See APCD Director Doug Allard column, Tomorrow's Fuel Cell Cars Here this Week, here.

Fuel cell cars from DaimlerChrysler, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, and Toyota started in Monterey on September 4th, arrived in San Luis Obispo on September 5th, and arrived in Santa Barbara County, the endpoint of the rally, on September 6th.
