Airborne Toxics Control MeasuresFor more information about the District's Airborne or Air Toxics program, see Air Quality/Air Toxics. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has promulgated Airborne Toxic Control Measures (ATCMs) for several source categories. Each ATCM is codified under Titles 13 or 17 of the California Code of Regulations and is available on the ARB website http://www.arb.ca.gov/toxics/atcm/atcm.htm. When the state adopts an ATCM, the District can either implement the state ATCM or adopt a local rule consistent with the ATCM. The following table shows the rules the District has adopted for corresponding ATCMs.
The District has elected to implement several state ATCMs directly without adopting a rule. The majority of the state ATCMs and federal NESHAPs (sometimes referred to as Maximum Achievable Control Technology or MACT) are not adopted as a District rule. For more information on ATCMs and MACTs, download one of these files: atcm-mact.pdf or atcm-mact.zip, or contact Doug Grapple at 961-8883 or grappled@sbcapcd.org, or the Rulemaking Section or the Engineering Division at 961-8800 or engr@sbcapcd.org.
