Pollution Prevention

Definition | Tips | Links | Pollution Prevention Week

Pollution Prevention is the prevention of environmental pollution at its source — before it is created. Pollution Prevention techniques, including source reduction, alternative products and processes, energy efficiency, water conservation, and other types of natural resource conservation, are recognized nationally as the preferred environmental strategy.

The main goal of our program is to share existing pollution prevention information with the businesses we regulate. Our Innovative Technologies and Business Assistance staff are in contact with organizations throughout California and the nation who are working to develop alternative pollution reducing products and processes. We can put you in touch with technical and, in some cases, economic assistance to develop pollution reducing strategies for your business. Often, pollution prevention solutions can save you money through increased efficiency and reduced regulation.
